The Rule to Remember: 2 tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water
(ie: your typical 8-10 cup coffee pot will require any of these equivalent measurements of coffee grounds: 1 cup, 2.53 ounces, or 14 tablespoons...and, of course, a little more or less to suit your taste.

When grinding your own coffee beans, it is best to only grind what you need for the current brew.

Roasted coffee beans kept in an airtight container in a cool, dark environment can sustain the flavor and the aroma of the coffee for up to 4 weeks. A cool dark place could be a refrigerator, but the concern is that condensation occurs at the moment when cold coffee suddenly meets the warmer room temperature.

A second concern with storing coffee in a refrigerator is that since a coffee bean is porous, it can absorb aromas around it introducing non-coffee tastes.
